Two if by Tea

Domestic Construction Tea Lights

tea time!

Your pad is an homage to the “reuse” part of the Holy Green Trinity. Headboards fashioned from fireplace mantels and UPS packages-turned-jewelry boxes are just the beginning.

Such trash-to-treasure expertise requires illumination that’s similarly inventive. Designers Maureen Walsh and Trish Andersen met in SCAD’s fibers department, where they turned their clever ideas and design whims into the brand Domestic Construction.

They scour junk shops and antique marts for forsaken tea cups (with antiqued rose motifs, chinoiserie prints, and ribboned silver swirls) that they transform into dangling lights. A single tea light can showcase special finds and heirloom knickknacks; a custom-made cluster makes for a terrific chandelier effect.

Sounds crafty. And that’s just your type.
