Sew What?

Instant Alterations at Vacation Gallery and Boutique

fixer upper!

You tend to judge those who rock vintage straight off the rack. First, they’re usually much thinner than you are. Second, that’s gross.

But really it’s that they didn’t need to consult Vacation Gallery and Boutique’s Stephanie Macksey for in-store alterations.

Macksey (who also drums for Atlas Sound) has just set up a sewing station for tweaking  the new shop’s vintage bags, clothes, and accessories.

Emerge from a dressing room with a furrowed brow and — behold! — the Puritanical hemline on an otherwise divine dress is raised. Stretched-out Steve Buscemi tee with graphics too good to pass up? A seam ripper and restitch will cut it down to size.

The best part: Most jobs ring in at five bucks. (Feel free to give more for karma’s sake.)

You know, what sews around comes around.

Available at Vacation Gallery and Boutique, 674a North Highland Avenue, Poncey-Highland (404-875-4413).
