The Porter Beer Bar Opens

Back in the day, swashbucklers plundered a lass in every port.

You’ll settle for a bar on every corner.

Starting tonight, walk the plank — or, ya know, duck into — The Porter Beer Bar, Little Five Points’s new watering hole.

Molly Gunn and Nick Rutherford (Bacchanalia, Seeger’s) are hoisting 120 bottled brews and another 27 on tap. There are small tables up front, a galley bar, and a cozy dining room lined with vintage trunks and suitcases.

Expect pubby comfort fare like organic bratwurst with house-made sauerkraut, Georgia gouda hush puppies with Fuji applesauce, and spiked Rogue stout ice cream. The Hair of the Dog weekend brunch menu includes fried green tomatoes Benedict, cheese grits, and sage butter sweet potato pancakes.
