We red-, white-, and blue-blooded Americans pledge allegiance to barbecues, tailgates, and the presidential turkey pardon.
Our newest custom: Tradition, from the guys who get you sufficiently sauced at Rickhouse, Local Edition, and Bourbon & Branch, opening today in the Tenderloin.
The pedigreed watering hole is separated into nine seating nooks dubbed snugs (hint: Reserve one ahead of time). Each honors a different American drinking culture (take note of the attention to detail and matching glassware).
Be on island time with a tropical cocktail in the Tiki; keep it hush-hush with Bathtub Gin Punch in the Speakeasy. Or simply forget your troubles with a Mind Eraser from the Dive Bar. We love that you can barhop without leaving your chair — but, unfortunately, the hangover is one tradition we can’t shake.
Regardless, we’re holding this bar dear.
Tradition, 441 Jones Street, between O’Farrell and Ellis Streets (415-474-2284 or tradbar.com).
