the insider's guide to your city
DailyCandy is a handpicked selection of all that's fun, fashionable, food related, and culturally stimulating in the city you’re fixated on (and all over the Web).
You’d just as soon try home beauty remedies (egg whites, olive oil) as take advice on your love life from the dude at the deli.
But you’ll happily learn from Kelsey Riley, founder of Marin-based Naya Organic Body Care and a gourmet chef for the skin.
At her first-ever class, Riley teaches you to make scrubs and herbal body oils from sustainable ingredients. On the syllabus: an antioxidant-rich face mask made from fresh honey, goji berries, raspberries, and blueberries; a toxin-extracting body scrub made from Dead Sea salt, ground almonds, and coconut, jojoba, and vitamin E oils; and a healing body oil made from organic olive and almond oils and herbs like jasmine flowers, honey bush, and lavender.
Students can also get her products at a 15 percent discount.
For which she always holds the mayo.
Class will be held Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at Green Home Center, 1812 Polk Street, at Washington Street (415-567-3700 or thegreenhomecenter.net). Register (required) with Kelsey Riley at 415-306-6008 or kstarriley@yahoo.com. For more information, go to nayaorganics.com.
