the insider's guide to your city
DailyCandy is a handpicked selection of all that's fun, fashionable, food related, and culturally stimulating in the city you’re fixated on (and all over the Web).
When you’re feeling fancy, you live in a pied-à-terre (not an apartment), wear blouses (not shirts), and dance around in your lingerie (not panties).
And, of course, you park yourself at The Parlor (rather than slumming it at a bar).
The new neighborhood saloon-meets-lounge, which soft-opened Friday, brings a touch of the upper crust to the usual chaff of Fisherman’s Wharf.
The owners gutted the old Dirty Martini to create a throwback to turn-of-the-century San Francisco, with exposed-brick walls, antique chandeliers, and button-tufted leather banquettes. Booths, with their own TVs, can be reserved.
Classic cocktails set the mood, as do scores like a ten-year single-barrel whiskey from Kentucky’s Buffalo Trace distillery (exclusive to the joint) and lesser-known Irish whiskeys.
There’s also a semiprivate area with a pool table and club chairs called The Library.
Which is a definite step up from a rec room.
