You thought there was no way Spruce’s much-lauded burger could be surpassed.
You could be (deliciously) wrong. Cafe des Amis, the team’s newest restaurant opening today in Cow Hollow, is serving its own classic burger until 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (along with grilled boudin blanc sandwiches and steak frites).
Think of Cafe des Amis as Spruce’s Frenchified cousin, a bustling brasserie decked out with a nickel-topped bar, antique marble floors, and Parisian doors looking onto Union. The menu is flecked with familiar dishes like onion soup au gratin, as well as more upscale fare (lamb chop with summer shelling beans, chicken ballotine with warm liver toasts).
And did we mention it’s open for breakfast? So if you missed the burger last night, you can start the day right, with a buttery croissant at an outdoor bistro table.
