The tony hood used to be known mainly for its luxe boutiques and multimillion-dollar homes. Both are still there, but an influx of new restaurants has given the area, characterized by chic Fillmore Street, new life.

Dosa marks San Francisco’s first foray into Southern Indian food, namely the signature crepes popular in the region. The menu is heavy on healthy and predominately vegetarian dishes. The dining room is candlelit.

The city’s most storied music venue retains a bit of its hippie-dippie past (no, not weed, we’re talking about its selection of classic rock posters). But despite the rich history, The Fillmore is very much in the present, drawing top acts across all genres.

The store’s namesake owner imports incredible frocks from Aussie and New Zealand designers, many of which can be found only at her chic Pac Height boutique. Down Under style indeed.
