On the Rocks

Serpentine Restaurant Opens

rock on!

Rocks have played a significant role in your life: your weird pet in grade school; the big one on your finger; and now Serpentine, a new hotspot from the folks behind Slow Club.

Named after the earthquake-inducing green rock beneath its foundation, this place is guaranteed to shake up the dining scene in Dogpatch.

Chris Kronner’s daily-changing menu marries local California ingredients with subtle French Country flair. Dishes like rosemary bread pudding with king trumpets and Emmenthaler, and grilled lamb riblets atop parsley root puree make lips quiver. Twists on classic cocktails register high on the Richter scale.

Exposed columns, servers clad in street clothes, and sliding steel dividers give the resto a hip, urban feel.

Soon to erupt on the scene: rotating art exhibits, dramatic hanging globe lights, and crowds of seismic proportions.

Solid as a rock.

Serpentine, 2495 Third Street, at 22nd Street (415-252-2000 or serpentinesf.com).
