Glove Compartment

Eastern Market Gloves

gloves!

Most of your body shudders at the thought of winter’s approach.

But for your hands, it can’t come soon enough. Those unmanicured nails and gnawed-at cuticles have but one season to hide from prying eyes, so they’re counting the seconds till you bust out the woolly mittens.

Until then, give them a refuge in cotton gloves by Marsha Brooks. With a little help from her niece, Brooks scours consignment stores and flea markets to find old-fashioned white gloves. She then tie-dyes each pair by hand (think Sienna Miller and Matthew Williamson) and sells them at Eastern Market.

Available in almost every imaginable color combo (red/pink, blue/gray, and blue/green, to name a few), they also come in varying lengths — everything from wrist to elbow. And with one-of-a kind vintage details like pearl buttons and scalloped edges, you’ll want to wear them all year round.

We doubt your hands will object.

Available at Eastern Market, 7th Street, at North Carolina Avenue SE. Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
